We are

We have no intention of leaving our first love. Revelation 2:4-5

Christ is the head of the church and our source of life. Peter said, "To whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life." John 6:68

At Jasper County Baptist Church, we believe everything Jesus said was true and relevant on the day He spoke it, and that it is still true and relevant today. This includes all Scripture; He is the "Word of God."

It is interesting to note that the following verses are identical:

Matthew 24:35 - "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away."
Mark 13:31 - "Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away."
Luke 21:33 - "Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

Jesus is emphasizing that God's Word is eternally true and eternally relevant to all mankind.

This means that the Holy Spirit provides the leadership for the local church. This is not anything new; churches have operated this way for the last 2,000 years. Being independent of ecclesiastical authority increases our dependence on God, and allows the Holy Spirit to meet the specific and unique needs of each local church and the individuals therein.

Our purpose

We want to establish a church where Jesus is present as Lord and lifted up as Saviour; where the Word of God is believed, taught, preached, and loved; where truth is considered to be unchanging, relevant, and vital for the building of a life, a marriage, and a family.

We believe that church is exciting and fun; that spiritual growth is an adventure and is possible for any person of any background and any age.

Most of all, we want to help and encourage each other to be a testimony to the saving power of Christ by the words we speak and the changes He brings to our lives.
